Guidelines for attending the D-8 Digital Economy Forum (TBD)
The D-8 Digital Economy Forum (“D8DEF”), sponsored by FANAP , marks the first mixed meeting of its kind organized by the D-8 Organization for Economic Development (https://developing8.org) to address private-sector collaboration and partnership in projects relating to the IT and ICT sectors of D-8 countries. The Forum will delve into the following key topics:
- Fintech
- E-Commerce
- E-Government
- E-Tourism
- Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- Digital Economy Infrastructure
Additionally, the D8DEF will allocate time for discussions surrounding sponsorship and investment opportunities. Delegates from the private sectors (companies and businesses) of D-8 countries will have the opportunity to showcase their capabilities and innovations, as well as to discuss existing bottlenecks and government representatives from D-8 Member States. Alongside the main events, there will be ample networking opportunities for participants to forge partnerships and discuss business prospects.
Working Groups
The Working Groups which were held online in August-September 2024, served as introductory sessions to the Forum during which certain participants presented themselves and/or their project proposals. Each forum topic was discussed and participant were provided with an opportunity to discuss their areas of expertise. Some of the content of the online Working Groups have been made available on the Event website and can be accessed in the section labeled to “Working Groups.”
The Forum
The main plenary meeting of the first D8 DEF is a mixed-meeting between representatives from D-8 Member States and representatives from the private sector of D-8 countries. The Forum will commence with an opening ceremony attended by all participants, followed by specific meetings dedicated to each of the six (6) thematic sections of the Forum, specifically: FinTech, E-Commerce, E-Government, E-Tourism, AI and digital infrastructure. The operative language of the Forum and all meetings (and associated documents) is English.
During each of the thematic meetings, private sector participants from D-8 countries will have the opportunity to present their companies, showcase their capabilities, and explore potential partnerships with other participants. Companies wishing to present must indicate their interest on the registration form by 8 October 2024. In addition to the thematic sessions, private rooms and business corners will be made available for B2B discussions and negotiations, facilitating business discussions and networking opportunities.
Due to limited time and space, we encourage early registration by TBD to secure your participation and active involvement.
Optional Excursion to Hendorabi Island
On TBD, after the conclusion of the D8 DEF, an optional day-long excursion has been planned to Hendorabi Island. This excursion is being organized exclusively for the participants of the D-8 DEF and an exclusive number of tourism companies from D8 countries. In order to participate in this optional excursion, participants of the D-8 DEF may express their interest by TBD. Confirmed participants will be provided complimentary return transportation to Hendorabi Island from Kish Island for a day-long outing on this pristine island.
Travel Information
Kish Island is a designated Free Economic Zone on the coast of the Persian Gulf. Its status as a free economic zone provides visa-free entry to visitors flying directly to Kish International Airport from international locations. Currently, “Dubai Air” is only non-domestic commercial airline that operates direct flights to Kish Island from Dubai (UAE). Direct (return) flights from Dubai to Kish Island are available once a day, four days per week, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
If you plan to travel to Kish Island through the mainland of Iran and you are a national of a country that requires a visa for entry into Iran, you can either apply online for an Iranian e-visa or you may request a visa at the airport. After submitting your application, please contact the nearest Iranian diplomatic or consular mission in your country or another mission of your choice to obtain your visa. If you are traveling via Tehran, please ensure that your travel agency arranges for transportation between airports if necessary (international flights are to/from Imam Khomeini International Airport - IKA - while domestic flights are to/from Mehrabad International Airport - THR .

Transportation
The Organizing Committee has arranged for transportation services for participants of the D-8 DEF to and from Kish International Airport (https://kishairport.ir) on the date of their arrival as well on the date of their departure. A representative from the Organizing (Host) Committee will greet arriving participants at Kish International Airport and assist guests with the transfer to the pre-arranged hotels.
Transportation services will also be made available for participants from their hotels to the venue of the D-8 DEF.

Accommodation and complimentary services
The Organizing Committee will be providing complimentary accommodation for government representatives from D-8 Member States and a number of representatives from the private sectors of D-8 countries. If you would like to be considered for complimentary accommodation, please register your attendance by TBD. Due to the limited number of rooms available, it is advisable to register early. Please note that this is a hard deadline and we will not be able to extend this offer beyond TBD.
Upon arrival, participants of the D-8 DEF will be designated a contact person who will greet them at the airport and remain available for their assistance until their departure. Contact persons will be available to facilitate their timely and convenient attendance at the D-8 DEF.
